THE BROAD

This striking museum displays art from the collection of Eli and Edythe Broad in expansive, column-free galleries bathed in natural light. The museum also provides state-of-the-art storage for archival resources. The exterior covering of interconnecting concrete trapezoids conceals the structure's weight-bearing walls while admitting light and permitting passers-by to see inside. Challenges the team overcame included identifying trade partners capable of performing the high-level style of work required by the façade, working through attachment and waterproofing details and identifying the best value for the scope.
