Showcase Laboratory for Gene Therapies

The Simcere Innovation Center for Cell and Gene Therapies includes laboratories, office areas, and meeting spaces for 150 scientists, administrators, and executives collaborating to advance novel therapies for treating human disease. Laboratory areas are designed to showcase biotech innovation and include glass walls for views into the highly flexible open lab and instrument rooms. Additional features include large scale tissue culture suites and BSL-2+ suites for handling gene editing vectors.

HGA worked with Simcere executives and senior scientists to program, test fit, and design the facility to enhance connections between research teams. Office areas, café, and meeting spaces are an extension of the lab environment, all of which reflect the Simcere brand in finishes and color palette. Natural light and access to views are available throughout, adding to the visual appeal of the laboratories and workplace. Laboratory areas are designed to modular planning principles – from the standardization of lab services to the selection of mobile benches – to allow rapid change in layouts and instruments.
