About MOSCONE CENTER EXPANSION
Moscone Center Expansion located in San Francisco, CA is an expansion, Type I steel hospitality project. This project is designed by SOM and Mark Cavagnero Associates. This CM-GC/IPD project involved reconfiguring the convention center’s North and South Exhibit Halls to increase exhibition space, resulting in a total expansion area of 350,000 SF, with four levels above grade and one level below grade. The project increased contiguous exhibition space, ballroom, meeting room, retail and support spaces. Complex sequencing, scheduling, and pedestrian-safe access measures were put in place and imperative to accommodating the center’s full convention schedule during construction. Finally, the sustainably-impressive, improved Moscone Convention Center creates less carbon emissions per-visitor than any other major convention center in North America, in addition to saving more than five million gallons of water annually and generating clean energy with the largest rooftop solar installation in San Francisco. This project is LEED Platinum®.
